I got to know this Welsh singer through her single “Mercy”. After listening to this song, I got attracted to her voice. Then I search and download the MV of this song right away. “Rockferry” is the debut studio album by Duffy, 1st released on March 3, 2008 by A&M Records. According to Duffy, the album title “Rockferry” is loosely based on Rock Ferry, a suburb of Birkenhead, on the Wirral Peninsula & approximately 10 miles from the Welsh border & 3 miles from Liverpool. The CD has earned a nomination for the 2008 MOJO Awards in the category of Album of The Year. In addition “Mercy” has been nominated for Song of the Year. Raised in Wales, on the Ll?n Peninsula, with her twin sister, Katy, & older sister Kelly, Aimee Anne Duffy’s parents divorced when she was 10, and she moved to Pembrokeshire with her mother and sisters, while her father remained in Nefyn. She dropped her 1st name at the age of 19, calling herself Duffy professionally and personally. She is the only female from the Ll?n Peninsula to ever top the UK music singles charts. Her early interest in singing was apparently inspired by her father John Duffy’s videotape of the 1960s television rock show Ready Steady Go! . Duffy started singing at age 6 & at that age carried around a notebook in which she scribbled lyrics. She was booted from the school choir cos her voice was “too big; I didn’t fit in”.
