This is a day or so old, but it’s still out over a week before it’s actually in stores, so that’s still a win, wouldn’t u say? Punk jokesters Me First & the Gimme Gimmes are back, with a “new” album. Actually, according to the nfo, it’s stuff that’s primarily a decade old, recorded for the 1st album but not included. Much like everything else MF&TGG does, it’s fun punk covers, this particular version is of the 60s and 70s. Included are covers of Elton John, Hall & Oates, John Denver, Neil Diamond, Carol King, the musical Hair, and more. So if you like punk, ironic covers, or both, be sure to give this a look.

Me First & the Gimme Gimmes is a punk rock supergroup and cover band that formed in 1995. Drawn together by a mutual love of 1960s & 1970s music, the Gimme Gimmes work exclusively as a cover band. They have covered songs from such artists as Cat Stevens, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, & John Denver. The band is named after a children’s book of the same name by Gerald G. Jampolsky and Diane V. Cirincione.
